The objective of the CarmichaelUK Celebrate programme is to ensure that as a company our culture is fully inclusive and that we welcome diversity within the workplace. We want our company to reflect local communities and we want people to feel respected and valued in the workplace.
Raising awareness about issues that other people may encounter helps us to dispel negative stereotypes and understand different perspectives. And with the aim of both educating and talking openly, our LGBTQIA+ Celebrate Champions in London organised another lunch and learn session to share their knowledge about LGBTQIA+ issues.
The lunch and learn session focussed on figures from LGTBQIA+ history and took place last week in the form of a walk in the local park at Westham. This was followed by a short fun fact quiz. Our LGBTQIA+ champions helped the London team to think from a different perspective to encourage empathy. This in turn helps to ensure that we treat people fairly and with respect, regardless of their backgrounds, and promotes a healthy and inclusive environment.
