Tunnels Section Engineer required for one of our main contractors in centrl London.
Operating on a shift basis including regular night and weekend working You will ensure the effective coordination and control of a section of the tunnelling works. You will report to the Shift Team Leader and supervise the shift engineers. Responsible for resolving technical issues, developing engineering solutions, ensuring the quality of the works, planning including producing the weekly work programmes and monitoring progress, managing survey activities, ordering and calling off of materials, ensuring quality control systems are implemented, managing local health, safety & environmental issues including the development of safe systems of work and risk assessments.
Requirements:
- A minimum of HNC/HND (or equivalent) in civil engineering, mining, geotechnical engineering, mining surveying or a related subject.
- Holder of a relevant CSCS Card.
- Previous experience of working underground in the civil engineering or mining industries and knowledge of wet sprayed concrete lining systems for tunnel construction is required.
We are looking for someone with good organisational skills who can work as part of the team and assist in developing the skills of the junior engineers. Be clear and concise in their communication with both management and site personnel. A flexible approach is key to success in this role; therefore, the person has to be adaptable to change. A good understanding of technology and software will be of benefit.
